What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?

Redbank Dental offers children the best available service to assist patients care for their oral health and well-being. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a new child dental benefits programme and it gives eligible children access to up to $1,000 in benefits per child for dental services over two consecutive calendar years.

If your child doesn’t use the full $1,000 for dental services in the first year, they can use the balance in the second year if they are still eligible.

You don’t need to register for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. Eligible families and teenager will get a letter for the Australian Government. The letter will generally be sent to the person receiving the government payment.

What age do you have to be to be eligible?

Children and teenagers are eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule from age 2 to 17 years, are eligible for Medicare, and are part of a family that receives Family Tax Benefit Part A or a child receives an Australian Government payment from the list available.

The Child Dental Benefits Scheme can be used for some of the following preventative dental services:

  • Examination
  • X-rays
  • Cleaning
  • Fissure sealing
  • Fillings
  • Root canals
